Dragon Scale Breast Plate Armour
I wanted some elvish armour to go with my costume, so i decided to make this body piece from the dress form I'd previously made. :)

Step 1
You'll have to have made the base dress form (link above) ^^^ which is another of my tutorials. Once you have that you'll need lots of stickers, I went to the $2 shop and bought some cheap ones there. I ended up using just over 1000 stickers. So buy lots cause they're cheap. You can use any shape sticker but I used circles. Square ones would look cool though. And you'll also need spray paint, I used siver but gold or bronze would look good as well.
Now you start placing the stickers in an overlapping pattern. Start from the bottom and work your way upwards. I found that they stuck to the duct tape well enough and didn't need any primer.
Step 2
Step 3
This takes a while so you may want to do it in front of tv or something, it's kinda boring.
Step 4
Now once you've placed all the stickers. Cut the bottom of the form in a 'V' shape to make it look cool and tidy the edges. Also cut the neck and arm holes. It took me a few cuts till I got the shape I liked. Just remember not to cut too much off, you can't stick it back on again. It should look like this....
Step 5
Now take it outside to spray paint. I just hung it on a coat hanger off a tree branch. It only took a couple minutes to fully dry but that may vary on what spray paint you use. I only needed one coat, just be sure to cover up all the white of the stickers.
Step 6
You now paint on the details to emphasise the 'scales' of the armour. Just contour the stickers with black paint. There's a painting technique called 'dry brushing' I used this. Doing this also gives the armour a used, rustic look.
Step 7
To make this armour wearable you need to cut up the sides as you can see on the left. Try to cut each side relatively evenly.
Step 8
Now mark a series of holes along the side of each cut, about 1.5 inches apart. Then size these into holes that you can thread ribbons through.
Step 9
Now using a really big needle, left pic is compared to a normal needle. If you dont have one that doesn't matter, it just makes it easier to thread the ribbon. If you have any eyelets then use them, but I didn't have any at the time. Thread the ribbon in a criss cross pattern with the ends finishing at the bottom.
