Ariel Cosplay Shell Bra
Ariel from Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' has always been one of my favourite disney princesses.
So of course, I had to make a cosplay of her :)

First spray paint both the bra and large shells a base coat, you could hand paint this but i'm lazy and had some silver lieing around which worked well with purple.
Step 1
Step 2
Begin with sketching your approximate pattern, mine was quite messy as I changed it a lot as I was going. Collect a range of shells in vairous sizes, a large nice shell you like for a center bit, and pearls, again in vairying sizes. You will also need an old bra for a base, and two large shells for the main bra cups, (I cheated with this as I couldn't find the right size on the beach, so I found plastic ones super cheap at the dollar store) You'll also need hot glue to stick it all together, and paint (your colour choice) though I chose purple for Ariel's cosplay.
Step 3
Then paint the shells purple, I used two tones, a bright purple and a darker sparkly metalic one for shading and detail. (they're also just colours I happened to have.) Once these have dried glue these main shells on, (I used hot glue). Now you can start laying out and gluing on your shells.
Step 4
Start in the middle with the larger shells and pearls, then work out from there. Once you're happy with how the main bits work fill in the gaps with pearls and smaller shells, taipering off in size when you get to the sides of the bra. Depending on the stiffness of the bra you have, you may want to wiggle it and bend it a little as the glue dries a little so it still fits comfortably. I just put it on a couple times as I was working to ensure it held its shape.
Step 5
Now add rows of litle shells along the lines of the big shells.
Step 6
Finally once you're happy with how it's all looking, stitch some old pearl strings in to hang under the bra, I also had a spare shell string left that I hadn't used so I added that too. I stitched these as well as using a little hot glue on the ends so that if they get tugged or anything they won't just pop off.
Step 7 - Final Product
Once everything's all glued on and dried, pick off all the stringy bits of hot glue and you're done.
