Ariel Cosplay Trident

Ariel from Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' has always been one of my favourite disney princesses.

So of course, I had to make a cosplay of her :)

Step 1

Begin with getting some wood pieces for your base, I had some old broken photo frames which I used as they were all good sizes. You'll also need an old broom handle or some sort of 'stick' to use as the handle of the trident. The colour doesn't matter for these mine just happened to already be gold. You will also need a hammer and nails, a hot glue gun, some thick card, masking tape, some sort of putty/primer to get a smooth finish, and of course spray paint.

First nail your wood pieces together, then add extra

stability by wrapping masking tape around the joints (use wood glue if you have some handy) make sure it's all firm, not wobbly.

Step 2
Step 3

Then hammer a long nail into the top of your pole, this will give you something to attach the trident tip pieces to without having the pole stick out on the side of it. Then use hot glue and more masking tape to connect these all together.

Step 4

Now cut out the shape of the tips you want for your trident, you can add shape to the shaft here too if you wish but I just went with generic straight shafts. Make sure you cut it to match the full length of your wood pieces

Step 5

Now hot glue these on to the wood pieces and wrap the whole thing entirely in masking tape to cover over any gaps and smooth the edges.

Step 6

Then cover everything in some sort of putty/primer you have just to smooth over the bumps of the tape. This may need a couple of layers and when this is done sand it back to get a nice smooth finish.

Step 7

Now just spraypaint! This might take a couple layers to get a good solid colour
